Biographical Sketch Albert Tyler (1906-1968), Caltech professor of biology, was born in Brooklyn, New York, and received his bachelor's degree in 1927 from Columbia University. In 1928 he accompanied Thomas Hunt Morgan from Columbia to Caltech, as Morgan came to California to set up a new biology program. Tyler subsequently became Caltech's first PhD in biology (1929).
